Mini Update

It's late and I just showered, and though I am excited to head to bed after another fun and exhausting day in the Bay Area, I was dying to check the PSU website to see if my grades had been posted. Sure enough, they have finally been posted and I have my first PSU 4.0! My gpa is now up to 3.70- in my about to fall over stupor, I still have the capacity to be really stoked about that. Yay for a weird quarter turning out to aid my gpa... nice to know it was good for something, right?

Days

There are all sorts of different types of days. There are busy days and slow days and relaxing days and psycho days. Sometimes slow days are boring, especially when you have multiple errands to run and/or chores to do. Today quite easily have been one of those days, yet somehow it wasn't.
We spent most of the day avoiding necessary tasks. Or at least I did. I put off cleaning my room till today. I put off showering till this afternoon. I put off packing till tonight.
And somehow it's all been rather fun. Maybe it's the Spring Break road trip excitement, or maybe it's just the company. It's probably a compilation of the little things: crazy angry people at the public library, dvd extras from Stranger than Fiction, getting poured on while I ran, anecdotes from my mom's humorous experiences of the day.
Tomorrow should be one of those interestingly slow days. Spending all day in the car sounds boring, but throw in some friends, Jeeves and Wooster on tape, and chocolate covered espresso beans and it should be a great time.

Back to Some Sort of Normal

I don't know if this is normal or abnormal. This no homework, no studying, no classes thing. It has only been 10 weeks since the last time I felt like this, but it feels longer. Today has been kind of unusual, though. While I still wasn't studying or going to class, I had a final. Which I didn't study for. Very unusual for me, I know, but I've been sick in bed. It hasn't been too bad, though, with my family and Josh taking care of me, plenty of time to sleep, and a little time to play my new Hoard character and catch up on pleasure reading. How is it that sci-fi stories always have such complex plots and histories?

In Case

If you perhaps are attempting to read the Bible in one year, or would like jump in and give it a go, here's today's reading:

Stupid Bus Fiasco

Objective: to get from school to church, thus saving $2 on bus fare by getting a ride from my dad, who had a meeting.

Plan: find a bus that leaves as close after 9 as possible (as to not leave class too early and not arrive at church too late).

Rout: catch the 6 on Columbia.

What really happened: got out of class an hour early. missed the closest bus 6 and had to wait 11 minutes. got on the bus and asked for fareless square. drove one block and around a corner and heard over the loudspeaker "last stop fareless square, you have to get off miss". stepped off the bus, confused. walked in the direction assumed to be toward 4th ave. ended up on 2nd ave. started laughing and feeling a totally new sensation of being lost in my own town. then ended up on madison. eventually found a stop for the 8, 9 and 10. the 9 pulls up. step on the 9 and the driver says, "this bus only goes to union station". again, confused. backed off the bus. next bus pulls up with a sign reading "downtown only". ignored it. it stops, doors open and the driver says, "this is the 8". uncertain - "how far do you go?" "to Jubitz". relieved yet skeptical. arrived at church all total an hour and a half later.

Triumphant..

I just walked into my room, decaf earl grey and frosted graham crackers in hand, and I smelled something good. Yes! Finally! Usually my room does not treat me to a pleasant smell, no matter how clean it is. I made sure to burn two of my best smelling candles today - cranberry and melon - in hopes that I might come home to something sweet. It worked. I'm happy.
I'm also happy because my jr hiers tonight seemed to connect with the lesson. A number of thoughtful and difficult questions were asked, and some usually scattered minds (and hopefully hearts) were engaged.
And - little bonus - I wandered over to Costello's in between running errands and church to do a little homework and kill a little time, and Josh showed up! I believe this is a first. We actually ran into eachother somewhere. Granted, Josh usually hangs out there on wednesdays, but I thought he wasn't going to this week, so it still counts.
And then, tonight after youth group when some of the kids/leaders kick the soccer ball around, I joined (this in and of itself is an accomplishment) and I actually kept the ball up! And I hit it with more than just my feet (so it was only my knee, but it's something).
I love days full of accomplishments; they're so few and far between.
