Yay!

Wordless Winter.

It's snowing outside. The cold is coming through my window. My thermal is leaking.
Stuart is warm. His fan is warming my three blankets. My blankets are not really warming my feet.
Coffee is warm. It's in the other room. The floor boards are cold.
Where is room service?

Do you know what these images are?
I do. And I am not excited about it.

What Does it All Mean?

Purification and properties of the inhibitory guanine nucleotide regulatory unit of brain adenylate

Derivation of pluripotent stem cells from cultured human primordial germ cells

High-pressure biotechnology in medicine and pharmaceutical science

Okay. I consider myself to be an at least normally intelligent human being. Or at least I did before this afternoon when I made the grave mistake of google scholaring "science". No matter how I look at the above titles (the first page of search results), I can make no more sense out of them than if they were in Serbo-Croat. I got momentarily excited over the words derivation and morphology because I learned those words in Linguistics... though I somehow think they are not being used in the same way.
But pluripotent? mutagenesis? Yikes. As for multi-syllabic words, I'll take phenomenological, dialectic and chiaroscuro any day.

Look at Me and My Bad Self.

I love the Art Museum so much - but I have this tendency to do something I don't think I'm supposed to do. See, in England, not only the are the museums free, but you can also take as many pictures as you like. That's pretty cool - something I got used to. So I always feel somehow cheated when I'm at a museum here and don't take pictures. Is it even banned? I don't know, but I'm not selling my photos or anything, so I figure I should be able to have my pictures.Speaking of art, here's some of my own art. My own collage art, that is. The images belong to my classmates, but the compositions and photographs are mine.

I Guess It Can Pick Up Color.

There are days when I wonder if the world actually looks like I think it does. And then there are days when I upload photos and images appear that I actually recognize, with colors that I actually saw.
How lovely.

Gooood Fun

Now that Josh, and consequently Austin, is in Portland, I have all these new and amazing amusements to occupy my time. Watching soccer games on Sunday nights has been super fun. Also, they've introduced me to some fun, slightly less directly socially stimulating things: World of Warcraft and the Wii. These things only involve social interaction in the mode of geek conversations at a later point in time. Kind of frightening, yet oh so fun. I now spend time sitting on the bus wondering not what homework I will do at Josh and Austin's, but if I will play boxing or try to level my character.
At least Josh and Austin are usually present when I'm participating in these solitary activities so I at least feel li
ke part of society. Or something.

Small Things.

To the guy who rode in the seat in front of me on the bus tonight:

Thank you for smelling like dryer sheets and for using those ginormous headphones that keep your music to yourself. Your grey Northface fleece was a breath of fresh air on a sweaty, dirty bus. And I always appreciate not having to know if you like country or weird 90's pop or hip hop. And for siting in your own row, leaving me to my own bubble.

People should be more like you.
