"The Great Figure"
Among the rain
and lights
I saw the figure 5
in gold
on a red
fire truck
moving
tense
unheeded
to gong clangs
siren howls
and wheels rumbling
through the dark city
"This is just to say"
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast
Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
by William Carlos Williams

Hehe, I know the second one. We looked at him in my poetry class. Pretty great eh? That and dozens more like it in Poetry 180 collection. So delightful. I miss your straight up billy collins collections though - I never had to buy one so long as I could mooch off of you. Now I need too...
woah, woah, woah. WCW is definitely the man of the night. did we actually both independently post his poems tonight? amazing.
